Local collection vehicles collect non-hazardous municipal solid waste (residential waste), commercial and industrial waste, recyclable materials and C&D debris, and deliver them to local transfer stations.
Waste Processing and Disposal
A transfer station can simply transfer waste from local collection vehicles to long-haul vehicles for transport to regional disposal sites, such as solid-waste landfills and incinerators.
Recycling facilities sort recovered materials into distinct categories and refine them into recycled commodity products (e.g. plastic bottles are converted into raw plastic).
